“Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.”

Nazareth singer collapses on stage
Nazareth's lead singer, Dan McCafferty, was only 30 seconds into the first song of the band's Tuesday night show at the Cranbrook Curling Centre in Cranbrook, Canada when he collapsed to the stage.
McCafferty had complained of breathing difficulties before the show, causing the starting time to be delayed from 9:30 to 11:00 PM. Fans were still disgruntled about the cancellation; however, promoter Issac Hockley tried to put things in perspective, telling the local Cranbrook Townsman 'We've got to remember we're talking about a person here. Number one is his safety.'
While no further information is available on McCafferty's condition, the balance of the band's Canadian tour, which was scheduled to run through July 27th, has been cancelled. The band has made no statements, but an announcement came from Century Casino in Edmonton where the band was scheduled to play three upcoming shows. 'We are sad to announce that unfortunately Nazareth has had to cancel the remainder of their tour. These shows will not be rescheduled.'
Nazareth is next scheduled to play seven shows on the European continent starting August 23 followed by a U.K. tour beginning November 15.
