Michael Jackson was in line for Doctor Who role

Michael Jackson was being lined up to play the title role in a Hollywood version of Doctor Who, a new book claims.

According to The Times, Now On The Big Screen: The Unofficial And Unauthorised Guide To Doctor Who At The Cinema details the numerous unsuccessful attempts to make a Doctor Who film through the programme's history.

In one chapter, its author Charles Norton claims that Jackson was the preferred choice for a lead role in a big screen version of the BBC TV show by Paramount bosses in 1988, off the back of his film Moonwalker.

Apparently, Bill Cosby was also in mind for the role had Jackson declined the offer.

Reasons for loving vinyl records

I know what you’re thinking. “Oh no, another music elitist who thinks MP3 sound quality is inferior to vinyl when, in all actuality, they sound the exact same.”

Record Sales Have Hit Their Highest Point Since 1997

It looks like all those Record Store Days might have paid off: According to a new industry report, vinyl record sales in 2012 hit their highest point since 1997 — you know, the same year Radiohead released “OK Computer” and Hanson’s “MMMBop” topped the charts.

Vinyl Collecting, Alive & Well

First and foremost, if you ask any record collector, it is the sound quality they love the most about vinyl. The music isn’t compressed into ones and zeros or “binary sound.” Then of course, there is the element of “collectibility,” people may buy vinyl as an investment, in hope that, over time, the records will appreciate in value.

Steve Gadd to release 1st album in 22 years

Steve Gadd hasn't released a solo project in 22 years. As one of the most in demand drummers of the last fifty years, he has stayed more than busy, but he felt it was time to write and produce a set for himself.

For those who aren't familiar with Gadd, his resume includes recording and touring with a list of artists including Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Jon Bon Jovi and many more. It is Gadd's drumming that you hear on Paul Simon's 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover and Late in the Evening, Steely Dan's Aja and Van McCoy's The Hustle.

Forgotten gems : The 'B' Side

The B-side is usually a long lost effort after the main event of most musicians’ singles.

A filler that rarely gets a play on most physical copies of singles, the B-Side has become a long forgotten gem.

Dylans 'Newport Electric' up for auction

The guitar that broke the hearts of many of Bob Dylan's fans and ushered him into the electric phase of his career will be put up for auction.

The current owner, Dawn Peterson, has owned the instrument for almost fifty years and recently found out that it was worth in the area of $50,000 while appearing on TV's History Detectives.

The road hasn't been totally clear for Peterson who had to deal with Dylan claiming that the instrument was still his after the program aired. An undisclosed agreement has been struck.
